The Arctic Alaska Region, of the Sports Car Club of America, will be sanctioning the first two Championship events of their of the 2009 Summer Solo Championship Season over weekend of May 2nd-May 3rd, 2009. The two Solo events will be “The Cones of Loch Leven Castle” and "Jamaican Me Crazy", and they will be held at Alaska Raceway Park, which is located off Sullivan Road at Mile 10.4 of the Old Glenn Highway (also known as the Palmer Alternate).

Schedule for Both Event Mornings
7:00AM - Solo Team Arrival
8:30 AM  -  9:00 AM - Registration Hours
9:15 AM - Novice Walk-thru with Driver Training Members
9:45 AM - Mandatory Driver's Meeting for all Competitors!!
First Car on Course Immediately Following Driver's Meeting - The Fun Begins!

All competitors will need to come by the Registration Tent upon arrival — both those who registered online and those who choose to register at the event Saturday morning. Note that Registration is only open for 30-minutes. You will then head to Tech for your vehicle inspection. It is best to arrive early so you'll have time to settle your gear, prepare your car, get through Tech, and walk the course!

Our Driver's Meeting will include a brief talk by the Safety Steward, and the Solo Team will cover the responsibilities each of your will have while working corners during your "work group"! Yup, you will be working "shagging cones" opposite your "run group", so please bring gloves, hats, layers for body warmth, sunblock/lipschitz, and foot wear for the elements. For those who have not been to an event at Alaska Raceway Park—the Matanuska winds can be quite bitter and chilly!!
Course design will be by Brad Generous. The Region will be providing water and coffee in the morning, as well as lunch, for Competitors and Workers at this event. We will be taking a 45-minute lunch break. There are no restaurants nearby, so you will not be able to leave the site to travel into Palmer.
Please arrive early to allow time to settle your gear, prepare your car, and get through Tech Inspection before the Novice Walk-Thru. Remember, all loose items will need to be out of your car and your battery will need to be solidly secured—no bungee cords!
Don't forget your Driver's License!

REGISTRATION and ENTRY FEES
All competitors are encouraged to pre-register (versus "event morning" registration) at the official online registration site for 2009 Solo events: www.motorsportreg.com. This will aid our planning prior to the event.
Another reason to register online? You will save money!

Entry fees will be $45 for SCCA Members and $55 for SCCA Weekend Members each day. The Weekend Membership fee makes you an SCCA Weekend Member, will give you a $15 discount towards a full SCCA membership, a copy of "SportsCar" (our national magazine), a DVD about SCCA, and is valid for the all SCCA-sanctioned events held during that weekend.

So here’s the run down on entry fees for each day:
- Wait and Register on Event Morning - $45 and $55

- Pre-Register Online AND Pay by midnight, Wednesday before event  - $35 and $45
- The Region is also offering an additional $10 savings if you Pre-Register for BOTH days AND pay by midnight, Wednesday before the event!
NOTE: For the “The Cones of Loch Leven Castle Solo and Jamaican Me Crazy Solo” events — our Solo Season Season Openers  — this would be 04/29/09 11:59PM AKDT.
Your entry fee must be paid online (or mailed to SCCA, PO Box 220108, Anchorage, AK 99522 with a postmark not later than April 29th, 2009).

- Register Online and Pay at Event – $45 and $55
Pre-register online and pay at the event. While you won't save money, you will spend less time at Registration at the event and you you will be helping the Region in planning adequate room for tech and pit areas!

DRIVERS LICENSES and HELMETS
Competitors must present a valid driver’s license and sign the Event Waiver. If under 18-years-of-age, competitors will need a Minor Waiver signed by their parents (or legal guardians) and presented prior to competition. Contact the Region at 243-2122 to obtain a form prior to the event.
Helmets: Competitors must have helmets, and they must meet minimum Snell SA-95, K95, or M-95 ratings or newer. The Region will have limited sizes and quantities of “loaner helmets” at the event; there is a $10 charge for use during the event.

CLASSES, CAR PREPARATION AND MODIFICATIONS

The Region utilizes the SCCA Solo Rule Book classificiations (2009 pdf-file available at alaskascca.com) and also offers the Denali Class for those Region competitors who have been competing two years; Drivers must declare their intention to run Denali Class at their first event, or they will remain in the Open/Ladies Classes for the 2009 Championship Season.

Each competitor will be required to present their vehicle ready for inspection to the Tech Inspection Team immediately following Registration. Vehicles shall have mufflers, working seatbelts, and NO leaking fluids, in addition to the other items on the Tech Sheet.

Download the Tech Checklist, as well as the 2009 Solo Rule Book, at the Arctic Alaska Region website: www.alaskascca.com
The event organizer is offering the following cancellation policy directly to you: Refunds will not be made until the end of the Solo Championship season (Sep09) or 30-days, which ever is later.

I don't believe it to be nessecary to post this on the NASIOC website as i was advised that the original that was unstickied was due to the SCCA not having a NASIOC vendor supporting the club...

Just FYI so for those of you who go there for updates, I'd suggest that you refer to the sanctioning body's website for accurate information.

I just wanted everyone to know that there is a slight change in how the weekend's event is going to be run. Because of the cancellation of the Test & Tune last weekend we are going to run "Test & Tune" runs in the morning and then championship runs in the afternoon. So you in essence get three practice runs to try different lines in the morning and then go for your best championship runs in the afternoon. I look forward to seeing you out there.

that sounds sooo fun.
im really excited about this weekend.
i get so nervous for the first runs that i cant seem to focus forward to where i need to go
i get stuck thinking about how to correct my mistakes i made.
so practice runs would be great.
i look forward to seeing everyone out there and seeing how the cars and drivers perform.
hopefully the sun will bless us too.

I registered last weekend, but am not showing up on the list of entrants. Just want to make sure I didn't mess something up when registering.  It says "Pending Review" in registration history when I check on Motorsportreg.com.  Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this but I could not find any contact information on Motorsportreg.com, and was unsure who to contact in the club.  Maybe I am jumping the gun, but I am just trying to make sure I get in before the Wed. deadline.

John W. and Jimmie C., you both are registered for the event so no worries there. I will get with the motorsportreg.com expert and see if we can get you to show up on the list. Thanks for your patience, we will get the problem resolved ASAP!

Thanks Again,

Brad

Jimmie, I know you've been "ready" for quite a few weeks now. I did send you and John W e-mails to confirm your registrations earlier this eve. Motorsportreg.com auto-generates a receipt upon completion of your registration; please confirm you did get one of those?

For registration questions, you may post here or from motorsportreg.com. Click the "Calendar" link, then the event and then click on the Host Details "Contact" - this sends an e-mail directly from motorsportreg.com for questions! From the RallyCross Season, I know that not everyone's question may be "open forum" material!

The RE encouraged our Solo Events Board to call competitors who ran last year, so I know there is a "rush" to registration and some are wanting to see who is planning to participate in "The Cones of Loch Leven Castle" and "Jamaican Me Crazy" Solo's this weekend!

Motorsportreg.com has been set so that even those who choose not to run/register can view the Attendee List (a new feature vs. registrants-only able to view) by going to event, click the "View current registration list" under the "Attendee List" section on the top right of the listing.

All registrations have been shifted to confirmed. We have some missing information for this event as Driver's learn this new registration system! In RallyCross, I tried to correct everything before it went to confirmed. I'll share the common items missing: vehicle description and for SCCA members--their member number/expiry and their competition number!

For those of you coming out as Weekend Members, this paperwork will take place at Registration event morning!

Can we camp out onsite with a camper/trailer?

I know this has been allowed in the past...
