Starting with a Bar-B-Que at Continental Auto Group’s Subaru location (4900 Old Seward Highway) the Eleanor and Al’s Shift ‘n’ Shinola Weekend Extravaganza is on its way beginning Friday, August 3rd! Join the AAR SCCA at this social as you enjoy some fine food and camraderie with other motorsport enthusiasts. We’ll have some surprises to make for a fun evening. Come and meet our Solo program sponsor, check out one of their facilities and meet some of their service personnel. You can also pre-register at this time for the very “full of fun” days ahead! We’ll start at 5:30 and finish up the festivities by 8:30pm.

The Pirates of the Bearibbean Road Rally will take place July 14th, 2007 in the Eagle River/Peters Creek areas. The rallymasters are Jake Engstrom and Jeff Lynn. We are very excited as it is the first time the rallymasters have written a rally in the area. The course has been set and you’ll have a good drive whether rain or shine. The roads used on the rally will be paved (or rolled recycled asphalt), so bring that nice car or family car or SUV. This is a non-speed event that challenges course following and accuracy. Please take time to download the registration/tech form and inspect your vehicle and have the form filled out prior to arriving. As always, we'll cover the basics of TSD (time-speed-distance) road rallying. We'll review the definitions, the often talked of "main road rules" and the constraints of rallying: SOL, RIP, signs in quotes, and just what all this means to YOU along a rally route.

This year we are going out on a short TSD rally in "teams" during the school. We will run a short course to show you what you might actually encounter on a rally, and then we'll return for a question, answer, and what-the-heck session!

One of the characters is Puck and another Hernia, and their words from Midsummers' Night Dream are wonderful for rallying--
