SCCA Member “Hits the Trail” in 2010 Iron Dog

Submitted by Rallygoddess on February 18, 2010 – 9:35 pmNo Comment

Okay, without the summer temperatures needed to get his Triumph TR6 out on the Solo course or to work a checkpoint along a Road Rally route, SCCA Member David Bathke is taking his winter “recreation” to extremes!

Running the Iron Dog Recreation “Trail” Class, he and Teamates Brian Miller and Brad Sordhal are buddies and all are Rookies on this snowmachine adventure. They depart out for “beers in Nome” from Big Lake on Friday, February 19th at 9:30AM.

You can follow the adventures at http://ontec.irondog.org/rec/ which gives you options of tracking Team 50, mapping them along the route, and more! The race certainly has come along way in allowing us to follow our friends and their fellow racers! The arrival day in Nome should be Wednesday, February 24th, where there is a Celebration Banquet. The Pro Class continues it’s 1,971 mile Iron Dog run to Fairbanks on Thursday.

This is from his Iron Dog Bio: David was born and raised in Alaska. He is a rookie to the Iron Dog. He brings with him extensive automobile racing experience including races at Portland Int’l Raceway, Leguna Seca, and locally ran autocross events driving a Triumph TR-6. David works for Norcoast Mechanical as a Mechanical Engineer. He enjoys snowmachining, sailing, dirt biking, downhill skiing, and all kinds of outdoor sports.
